teenagers from mars.
I strongly recommend if you are fortunate enough to own half a brain to watch 'Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills,' and sequel 'Paradise Lost 2: Revelations' directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofskya. The films document the brutal triple murder of three young boys in West Memphis, Arkansas in 1993. It follows the trials of three suspects, the so called 'West Memphis 3', accused of committing the horror in Satanic ritual. It is through this supposed 'Satanism' that the film explores the occult and the stigmas attached to it. The suspects were teenagers, Misskelley aged 17, Baldwin aged 16, and Echols aged 18 at the time. Echols recieved the death penalty as he was seen as the 'ringleader', Baldwin and Miskelley recieved life imprisonment.
Echols, holding a penchant for poetry and writing, co-wrote the lyrics to the song 'Army Reserve', on Pearl Jam's self-titled album and even Graves from The Misfits has written lyrics to coincide with Echols' poetry, releasing an album together in 2007. Strange.
One of the victims' father's, John Mark Byers, has also been seen suspiciously as a potential suspect for the murders. Later evidence and closer inspection of autopsy photographs has shown what appears to be teeth marks over Christopher Byers' right eye though this was subsequently dismissed in court. Teeth impressions of the three accused were cleared as their impressions did not match those found on the victim. Curiously, Byers snr. had all of his teeth removed and replace with dentures not long after the crimes. He has never offered a consistent reason for their removal. His wife, the mother of Christopher, died in the years following under suspicious circumstances. Her death's still ruled as 'undetermined.' It's worth watching the sequel just to see Byers' spiel on all this gnarly crazy shit and light fires.
'Paradise Lost 3' is currently being filmed.
