a fairytale ending.

i love being on uni holidays.
my time is divided between working, seeing friends, spending $$$ and watching ridiculous amounts of both quality and rubbish television.

today after returning home from robert's, i turned on the t.v. to discover that my parent's must have been watching sunrise with mel and koshie (is that how you spell it?) as it was on channel 7. all of a sudden elizabeth berkley (played jessie, the tall thin blonde one from saved by the bell but who has now basically sold herself and her body out) appeared before my bewildered eyes. ah, the joys of midday movies! it was then that i knew i was in for a low budget blunder of a film that would take away 2 hours of my life that i could never regain, all before i discovered the title; 'random encounter.' so i geared myself up with a cool drink and some noodles and got stuck into it.

Photobucket
the plot was terrible. elizabeth plays alicia, some public relations executive who meets this 'handsome' stranger named kyle at a party. he takes her 'home' for sex but some crazed psycho lady brandishing a knife interupts. she attacks kyle and alicia grabs the nearest thing she can in defence, which is this sculpture thing, hits the psycho lady on the head with it and kills her. EPIC! kyle say he'll take care of things and the two stage an elaborate car crash where the psycho lady seemingly is killed in. however alicia is recognised during the cover-up. the two go their seperate ways, but kyle continues to make contact with alicia, wanting more from her. alicia is haunted by the scene where she killed the woman and wants to find out more about kyle. so she lurks him and discovers he's an ex-con with several false identities and wanted for parole. EPIC! he begins to blackmail her, saying he'll trade the sculpture object which she killed the psycho with for $25,000. to prove his point he turns up at her parent's house for her birthday celebrations, making himself at home and convincing her parents the two are an item. alicia is obviously disturbed by this but goes along with it. the tension reaches it's limits when kyle presents her with her 'birthday gift' which happens to be the dead lady's necklace. OH! i forgot, the plot thickens as kyle and the psycho now dead lady were secret lovers and she was very wealthy. EPIC!!! ha ha.
where was i?! oh, yes! so she reacts disgusted, and the two leave her parent's home together. he threatens her again, and she agrees to pay him the money, hoping all this will go away and that her name will not be connected to the crime. however! all this time this detective has been watching the two (as suspects) and turns up when alicia and kyle aim to trade the money for the sculpture in the same place they first met, in as kyle describes 'a poetic end' to all this. the cop foils the plan, kyle gets all shooty and tries to escape with the 'money' located in a suitcase (how cliche!) but the cop follows him all guns blazing as does alicia. the cop manages to shoot him once, then in a wonderous turn of irony, alicia creeps up behind kyle, bludgeons him with the sculpture and he falls down. the cop pounds a few more rounds into him, and he is dead. the cop then approaches alicia, and comments 'oh, now that's got your prints all over it!' which she had already had on from the killing of the psycho lady. so she goes on with her job only to discover from doing some detecting herself, that her boss was the one behind all this. she forces him to leave the company, allowing herself to be the boss. EPIC!
A FAIRYTALE ENDING. ha ha.

here's what elizabeth was like back in the day:
